Fireworks Stand Fundraiser 2008 Event: The fireworks stand was an outstanding success this year, thanks to all the tireless volunteers who worked the stand in all kinds of weather, and most especially to all those who purchased their fireworks from them. From the opening on June 15th, through the final take down of the stand on July 6, sales far exceeded the greatest of expectations. At the final reconciliation, after all the bills and sales taxes were paid, the final profit from the stand was in excess of $8,000.00!!!!! Almost $2,00.00 of that has already been spent on radios for new volunteer firefighters (several of them were without due to lack of funds). A couple of hundred was spent on restocking the water, gaterade, pop and snacks needed for on-scene supplies at extended fires or traffic control, as well as getting the peripheral needs for the next major fundraising event, the BBQ Dinner Dance. Also, since our firefighters will be doing the annual "Fill-the Boot" muscular dystrophy campaign, refreshment supplies will be needed because of the heat. And a couple of thousand will be needed to outfit new firefighters after they pass their basic classes. So a big Thank You! to all of you out there who support your volunteer fire department and auxiliary. Without you, and all of us who donate our time, none of this would be possible. Together we make an unbeatable team. See you next year, same time, same place. Have a great year! 2007 Event: The stand was in the usual location on the west side of Shaeffer Station. Dates open were June 15 through July 6. There was a lot of rain during that time period, but not as much as the first 5 months of 2007. Made a tidy profit which was used to buy new bunker gear for 9 firefighters. The auxiliary wishes to thank everyone who helped with this ardurous undertaking and made it such a huge success. |
