Cinco de Mayo Dinner - 2008 (first time for this event): The Cinco de Mayo Dinner event held on May 3, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Shaeffer Station was not as well attended as hoped. Although everyone who attended had a good time (and the food was spectacular!), quite a few wondered when the band was going to show up! A small profit was made since most of the food was donated. In any case, A big Thank You goes to everyone who donated time and food to the event. You are very much appreciated by your volunteer fire department and auxiliary. The volume of food more than met the needs of the participants, and "goodie plates" were sent home with quite a few people. Needless to say, there will not be a "Cinco de Mayo" event on the 2009 calendar. At this time, ongoing discussion about what kind of event to hold at this time slot next year is very diverse, with the frontrunner being a "Hoe-down", with a band and a wide variety of food types. Your input is welcome. Come to the next auxiliary meeting to voice your ideas, or you can email auxiliary@peninsulafiredepartment.org to present your ideas.
